The Spring Hill College softball team fell 6-4 in the eighth inning in the series opener against Montevallo at Murray Field on Thursday.

Emily Phillips (1-1) pitched a complete game in the extra-inning affair. This was the third game in a row that has gone into extra innings.

The Falcons jumped on the board first with a two-run homer over the right field wall in the top of the second inning. The Badgers answered with three runs over the course of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead.

Montevallo tied the game back up in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly to left field. The Falcons opened the extra frame with a pair of runs and went up 6-3. Taylor Pittman brought home a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Badger comeback stalled and they fell 6-4 in the first game of the series.
