The Spring Hill College baseball team fell in the final game of the series to Delta State 19-2 at Historic Sims-Galle Field on Saturday.

Toran Smith went 2-for-3 and Luke Sweeney went 1-for-2 while crossing home plate once. Nick Hunter extended his reached base streak to seven games.

Delta State took an early 7-0 lead through the first two innings of play to start the rubber match. Spring Hill showed life when Seth Williams stole third and scored on a failed pickoff error by the pitcher. Then, Sweeney scored on a throwing error by the third baseman that also allowed Eli Benoit to reach first.

The Statesmen then proceeded to go on a 12-0 run through the sixth inning. The Badgers ultimately suffered the 19-2 run rule loss and dropped the series.
