Spring Hill Splits Final Day of SIAC Round-Up

The Spring Hill College women’s tennis team split results during the final day of the SIAC Round-Up, beating Lane College, 5-0, and falling to Albany State, 2-4, at the Copeland-Cox (Mobile) Tennis Center on Saturday.

The Badgers started the day off with a 2-4 loss to Albany State. With games being played to clinch due to impending weather forecasts, the Badgers only played Albany State in singles play, where Claire Bosman was able to win a hard set 6-4, 6-7, 10-6. Brooke Powers also pulled out the only other point for SHC winning her singles match 6-3, 6-3.

In its second match of the day, Spring Hill fell 4-1 to Clark Atlanta. The Panthers clinched the doubles point in two games. Paola Marin Sabao swept her opponent (6-0, 6-0) on the No. 6 court to secure the only point of the match for SHC.

The Badgers bounced back in the third match of the day, taking down Lane College 5-0. Danielle Day and Emma Koch started off doubles action with a clean 6-0 sweep, followed by Romina Kroemer and Marin Sabao with a clean 6-0 sweep of their own to lock up the doubles point. Bosman and Natalie Barron also won their doubles set, 4-1.

Bosman, Marin Sabao, Day and Kroemer were all able to secure clean 6-0 sweeps in singles action.
