Preseason Q&A – Head Coach John Dotson

Preseason++Q%26A+%E2%80%93+Head+Coach+John+Dotson

Spring Hill College Tennis Head Coach John Dotson previewed the 2024 season for the men’s and women’s teams.

How did preseason preparations go for both teams?
“We had a really good fall season, winning matches at the South ITA Tournament.  Spring practice has been great!  Really good practice participation and great effort, the talent level has increased with new players.”

Coming off the first men’s conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance, what are the goals this season?
“We went undefeated in doubles and 57-2 in singles, it will be hard to duplicate that but I do expect us to compete for the [SIAC] championship again.”

Who appears to be taking leadership roles on both teams?
“The senior leadership has been great!  The men have Charlie Wallace and Paul Philipp-Kern and the women have Emmie Gage and Juleah Scarlett, who have been leading practices with their effort and enthusiasm!”

Which newcomers should we watch out for this season on both teams and why?
“The women appear to have four new starters: Claire Bosman, Brooke Powers, Romina Kroemer and Emma Pager.  The men have three new faces in Philip Bosman, Noah Eberhard and Hugo Blasco Granell.  Emma is a transfer from Coastal Alabama Community College, Hugo is a transfer from Wallace State Community College and Philip is a transfer from South Alabama.  The rest are true freshman.”
