Walter Peggs Jr. and Marta Duda garnered Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) weekly honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
Peggs Jr. earned his second weekly honor in a row after being named Newcomer of the Week last week. This is the first time the Jackson, Tenn., native has been named SIAC Player of the Week.
The junior led the Badger’s conference-opener at Albany State with 29 points while going 11-17 from the floor and 4-10 from beyond the arc on Saturday. He led scoring again with 20 points in Spring Hill’s 69-58 win over conference foe Fort Valley State on Monday night.
Peggs Jr. leads the league in 3-pointers, averaging 3.9 per game and free throw percentage (.875). He also ranks third in the SIAC in scoring, averaging 20.8 points per game and 3-point percentage (.397).
Duda was named the SIAC Newcomer of the Week for the first time in her career. She is the first Badger to receive a weekly nod from the conference this season.
The redshirt junior forward led in Spring Hill’s 75-67 conference opener victory over Albany State on Saturday with a double-double that featured 18 points and 10 rebounds. She repeated the performance with another double-double, highlighted by 16 points and 10 rebounds, against Fort Valley State on Monday evening.
Duda ranks fifth in the SIAC in free throw percentage (.875) and seventh in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game. She also ranks eighth in shooting percentage from the floor (.403) and 11th in rebounds while averaging seven per contest.
