The Spring Hill College men’s basketball team defeated Rollins, 65-63, in overtime at Warden Arena on Saturday.

Walter Peggs led the Badgers with eight points to an early 21-16 lead through the first 10 minutes of the game. Spring Hill controlled the lead for a majority of the first half, only turning it over once before regaining it in the closing minutes. SHC carried a 29-28 lead into the halftime break.

Rollins jumped ahead and took the lead back in the opening minutes of the second half. Steven Lyles hit a game-tying three-pointer with four seconds left on the clock to send the contest into overtime. Peggs sealed the 65-53 win with a three-pointer in the corner.

Lyles led the game in scoring with 20 points while Luka Erdtmann led with 11 rebounds for the second game in a row. The Badgers captured their first win over a Sunshine State Conference (SSC) opponent in the program’s NCAA Division II era.

They Said It – Head Coach Craig Kennedy
On the game
“The guys showed a lot of grit and courage tonight. We lost two guys to injury the night before at Florida Tech, after the game was delayed for 40 minutes with a clock malfunction. Timothy Reilly has really become a force inside and Walter Peggs has been a hard guard on the perimeter, but it was Steven Lyleswho brought some poise and maturity to the floor, especially in the second half yesterday and today. Tomorrow, we plan and prepare for a really good Embry-Riddle. Thanks to all the Veterans for their service, without their sacrifice we would not be able to play the game we love.”

Up Next
The Badgers will finish their season-opening Florida swing against Embry-Riddle on Monday.
