They Said It – Head Coach Craig McVey
On the meet
“We had our best day of the season. Everyone raced really hard and smart. Both squads weren’t totally healthy, but today they didn’t care. I’m really proud of this whole group. Through all of the challenges they’ve faced they never backed down. Both squad finishes were totally, team efforts. We have two weeks to the NCAA regional, we’ve got to work to get our health back.”

On the Women’s 5k
“Evelyn had an amazing race for our women. For a freshman to be third is really special. The cool thing is she’s just getting started. Ava had her toughest race of the fall and beat some people that could have been a big challenge, but she got it done. What do you say about two team members who just are relentlessly tough? Claire and Cassidy have had nagging major health issues and just hanging in there. We need to bottle their toughness, it’s amazing. Claire’s been a two-time all conference XC team member and I know it frustrates her to no end to not be where she knows she belongs, but she uses such a tough mindset to help us as much as possible. Abbygail jumped in when we had early injury issues and has been a huge inspiration all fall, talk about tough, add her to the group. I’m really proud of her, we wouldn’t be where we are without her.”

On the Men’s 8k
“Myles raced well. He’s made the All-Conference team two years in a row. He’s come a long way, just tough. Thomas had a breakout race. In 11th he missed the all-conference team by one place, just a great job. Luke and Ridge tag-teamed through the race together and were a big factor in the guys’ finish. Mo raced really well, got a little banged up during the race, but made a nice comeback to finish.  Baylor was coming off of an ankle injury and still helped us by finishing ahead of other be teams scoring runners.”
