The Spring Hill College men’s soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat on the road to Auburn Montgomery in Friday’s Gulf South Conference match at the AUM Soccer Complex.

The Badgers made an early mistake with an own goal in the first two minutes of play. The Warhawks capitalized on the momentum and scored in the 21st minute to carry the 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Spring Hill was awarded a corner kick in the 47th minute that led to Rutger Hesselink assisting Celso Juberias with his first goal of the season. AUM answered in the 71st minute and extended its lead to 3-1.

After a delay late in the match, the Warhawks found the back of the net in the 88th minute and defeated the Badgers 4-1.

Spring Hill took seven shots and placed three on target. Martin Gomez made three saves while facing 11 shots.
