Spring Hill College women’s cross country runner Evelyn Hererra was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Female Runner of the Week on Tuesday.
Hererra led the Badgers at the Lake Charles Toyota McNeese Cowboy Stampede at the Derbonne Multisports Complex on Saturday. The freshman finished in 20th amongst a field full of Division I competition from McNeese State, ULM, Louisiana Tech, Texas Southern, Southern, and Prairie View A&M. She clocked a career-best 19:58.7 in the 5k race.
The last freshman to win the weekly award was Madeline Knightly back in October of 2019.
