The Spring Hill College women’s soccer team defeated Xavier (La.) 4-1 in its home opener at Library Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Madison Hitzman blazed ahead of the Gold Nugget back line to open scoring and give the Badgers a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute of play. Poppy Binding found Hitzman moments later to extend the Spring Hill lead to 2-0 at the 15-minute mark. Annie Kratz assisted Binding in netting a brace in the 28th minute and gave SHC its third unanswered goal of the day. XULA answered in the opening minute of the second half to make it a 3-1 game. Binding ensured the Badgers’ 4-1 victory with a final goal in the 54th minute.
