The Gulf South Conference released its preseason poll, led by nationally-ranked (20) West Florida, and announced that Spring Hill College’s Alberto Aletta, Rutger Hesselink and Cristian Bregu were named to the GSC Newcomer Watchlist on Tuesday.

UWF led the Preseason Coaches Poll with 121 points and 11 first-place votes. Just behind the Argos were Lee with 100 points and defending conference champions Christian Brothers with 89 votes and a single first-place vote.

Mississippi College, Auburn Montgomery, West Alabama, Montevallo, Spring Hill, Alabama Huntsville and Delta State occupied the fourth through 10th spots, respectively. Union held 11th, while Shorter rounded out the list in 12th.

Junior Italians Aletta (defender) and Bregu (forward), from Campobasso and Borgo San Lorenzo, respectively, and junior defender Hesselink, hailing from Overijssel, Netherlands represented the Badgers on the GSC Newcomer Watchlist.

The three selections are the most the program has received on the watchlist in a single season. The GSC has recognized 13 total Badgers since SHC joined the conference in 2015.
