SHC Education Career Fair

SHC+Education+Career+Fair

Spring Hill education students met with local and national representatives to learn about job opportunities at the Education Career Fair hosted by the Office of Career Development on Oct. 18.

The Education Career Fair provided attendees with valuable networking opportunities. Rachel Knotts, representative of Magis Catholic Teacher Corps from Creighton University, explained, “It’s a great way to market your skills and to gain a greater community outside of the area where you are currently living.”

Education student Michelle Lorio said she came to the event to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a future teacher. “I have great people here to give me insight on that,” Lorio said.

Students connected with numerous organizations, including the Mobile County Public School System. Lisa Nell, Personnel Administrator for the Mobile County Public School System, explained, “As the largest school system in the state of Alabama, we have a lot of employment opportunities, and I am happy to be here today in hopes of recruiting some teacher candidates. We hire teachers from all areas, from early childhood grades to secondary grades. I am hopeful we will see some of the Spring Hill graduates working in our schools very soon.”

The Education Career Fair kicked off the 2022 Fall Career Fair that showcases the following five industries: Education, Business, Nonprofit and Government, STEP and Healthcare and Creative Industries. Sixty-seven local and national employers registered for the five day event.

The Fall Career Fair is just one of many career networking opportunities hosted by the SHC Office for Discovery and Professional Development. The Afternoon with an Employer Program is scheduled during Common Hour every Tuesday and Thursday in the Barter Student Center lobby.
