Spring Hill’s Business Club hosted their first Spring Fling on Friday, March 2, 2018. This was a free event for students, and lasted from 4-6pm at Rydex Circle. The club’s event also included two food trucks, a live band and many different lawn games.

The Business Club’s Spring Fling was the place to be on the evening of March 2nd. Students could choose between Cozumel Mexican Grill and Ben’s Burga Kaboose, and have some ice cream to top it all off. The Spotswood Brothers Band provided students with live music for the entire duration of the evening, and even performed overtime. Students were enjoying the event in a multitude of different ways, from partaking in lawn games to relaxing in Enos that were provided by the club.

The club’s idea for their Spring Fling goes back to last semester when the executive board, at the time, came up with the idea. The club worked on making this idea happen ever since. To do this, there were a few things the club had to do. They started with filling out the SAFAB application to get the proper funds from SGA. After receiving the needed funds, they moved on to booking the two food trucks. The club also had to coordinate with Public Safety and the school to reserve Rydex and have the band’s stage set up. To make sure the event would run smoothly, the members went through possible scenarios of what could happen during the event, that way they would be prepared. These efforts of those in the Business Club resulted in making their idea a reality, and a successful first Spring Fling.

Spring Hill sophomore Nora Brooks, the club’s president, explained why the club decided to host the event. “We wanted to create an opportunity for students to listen to live music, enjoy free food, and network with other students,” Brooks explained. The club’s event created an atmosphere where students could come and go as they please, and made it easy for students to walk around and socialize. Many students came to the event to socialize and grab some free food, and stayed to hang out even after the event was over. “We loved the turnout and heard that everyone had a great time,” Brooks added. With such a successful event under its belt, the Business Club hopes to do an event like this again in the near future.
