The Spring Hill College baseball team fell in the final two games of the series (4-3, 3-2) with Florida Tech at Andy Seminick Field on Saturday.
The Badgers got on the board late in the first game, with the Panthers taking a 3-0 lead by the fifth inning. Seth Williams scored on an error by the shortstop in the seventh to open Spring Hill’s scoring.
Florida Tech answered with a home run over the right field wall in the same inning to extend its lead to 4-1. Jack Taylor knocked in a two-run RBI single and made it a 4-3 game in the eighth inning. The late comeback was not enough and the Panthers took game one 4-3.
Michael Racobaldo struck out three batters across 3 2/3 innings and suffered the loss in his first start of the season. Florida Tech’s Danny Vassallo earned the win while striking out three, walking four and giving up one hit. Panther pitcher Ethan Stephens was credited with the save.
In game two, Florida Tech opened scoring again with an RBI single to right field. Bryce Anderson responded with a two-run RBI to push SHC ahead 2-1 in the sixth inning.
The Panthers answered again with two RBI in the seventh inning to capture their 3-2 victory and clinch the series with the Badgers.
Spring Hill newcomer Harun Pelja saw his first start on the mound, struck out two and walked four. Jackson Kent took the loss for the Badgers after giving up the game-winning run. Florida Tech saw five pitchers appear in the series finale, with Noah Steckley taking the win.
