Spring Hill College seniors took significant steps towards graduation at the Reach for the Avenue event hosted by the Office of Acedemic Affairs on October 26.
Members of the Office of Acedemic Affairs outline the steps required to ensure that seniors can graduate in May. The seniors learned that five steps are required to reach the avenue. The first step seniors must take to graduate is to take the right classes in the spring. “This is one of the biggest things you need to do,” said senior class president Andrew Castle.
The second step is to return a completed Intent to Graduate form to the Registrar’s office. “This will confirm your name and diploma for the ceremony,” Castle said. Castle also mentioned that students should meet with advisors to confirm that they have the correct amount of credits in order to graduate in May.
The third step seniors need to take to reach the avenue is to submit all transient work by January 1, 2023. Castle explained that coursework taken at other colleges must be submitted to the admissions office for seniors to receive credit.
The fourth step is to order graduation products. Seniors must place all orders online by March 10. “It’s a very simple and straightforward method, but if you don’t order by the deadline, you may end up wearing a suit or dress,” Castle said.
The fifth step is to check midterm and final grades to determine if the total credits for graduation will be met. Castle explained that seniors who do not have all their credits completed by May can still participate in the graduation ceremony as long as they can show that all credits will be completed by the end of the summer academic term.
This event was an opportunity for seniors to start making steps towards graduating.
“I really got a lot of great information about what is coming up,” said senior Michael Woolverton
Provost Rebecca Cantor commented on the event, saying, “With 122 days until graduation, we want to make sure everything lines up perfectly for you before then.”
Seniors who missed the Reach for the Avenue meeting can still stay up to date by signing up for the Class of 2023 GroupMe at SHC Senior 2022-2023.
