Spring Hill Athletics are well underway, and let’s check in and see how our Badgers are doing! Let’s start with our women’s soccer team, who have continued their undefeated start to the season. After an impressive showing last weekend against NCAA D2 powerhouses University of Tampa and Lynn College, our women’s soccer team managed a great 0-0 draw against Mississippi College to open their regular season campaign. The ladies closed their opening weekend against Delta State University, ending their Mississippi tour with another 0-0 draw. Also facing their Mississippi rivals, our men’s soccer team opened their Gulf South Conference season this weekend, losing their first match to Mississippi College and rounding out the weekend with a 0-0 draw against Delta State University. Moving on, our cross-country teams put on a proud performance at the Willie Laster Invitational in Albany, Georgia. Our women’s cross country team finished the race in 7th, with junior Evelyn Herrera placing 8th overall out of the 81 runners competing. Senior Cecilia Light also had a great race, finishing 11th overall. Also finishing in 7th place, our men’s cross country team had an impressive weekend in Georgia as well. Senior Zach Thomas led the Badgers in the 8k, finishing 16th overall. Now, let’s take a look at some upcoming events in Badger Athletics! This Friday, September 26th, our volleyball team will compete in the SIAC Volleyball Crossover, playing Allen University at 10:30 a.m. and rounding off the day against Edward Waters University at 5:30 p.m. Also playing on Friday, our men’s soccer team will be heading to Livingston, Alabama, to compete against the University of West Alabama at 7 p.m. If you want some home action, our women’s soccer team will be playing on our very own library field on Friday as well! The Badgers will host the West Florida Argonauts at 1 p.m. in what is sure to be their toughest match yet! Finally, our cross country teams are heading down to Thibodaux, Louisiana, to compete in the Nicholls Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at 8 am. That’s all that is coming up this weekend in Badger sports. To all those competing, good luck and have fun!
