The Spring Hill College softball team completed its SIAC series sweep against Miles with a 10-0 run-rule victory at the Miles Softball Complex on Monday.
Rycca Hinton led the game with two home runs, five RBI, two runs scored and three hits across four at-bats. Meadow Villar extended her on-base streak to 13 games, the longest on the team this season.
It was all Spring Hill (14-13, 13-0 SIAC) from the start. Macy Holt got the game started with a walk, followed by Hinton’s first home run of the game that she sent over the center field wall.
SHC extended its lead to 3-0 over Miles (5-20, 2-11 SIAC) on an error by the second baseman in the second inning. The Badgers continued to pile four more runs, three of which came on Hinton’s second home run of the day, in the top of the third inning.
Spring Hill scored three more runs, capped off by Cat McCulley’s heads-up base running that brought her home on a passed ball in the sixth inning. Leighanna Turk (4-7) finished her complete game and the 10-0 run-rule win for the Badgers after scattering four hits and striking out six batters.
