The Spring Hill College men’s tennis team won all three of its games against Benedict (4-0), Lane (5-0), and LeMoyne-Owen (7-0) during the first day of the SIAC Round-Up II at the Copeland-Cox (Mobile) Tennis Center on Thursday.
SHC (12-5, 9-0 SIAC) started the day with a 4-0 win over Benedict (7-4, 5-2 SIAC). In doubles play, Philip Bosmanand Matthew Pirie got a 6-0 clean sweep, followed by a 6-3 win by Charles Wallace and Hugo Blasco Granell that secured the doubles point for the Badgers.
Moving into singles play, Blasco Granell (6-0, won by retirement), Noah Eberhard (6-0, 6-0) and Tom Gutermann (6-2, 6-1) all brought home wins and secured the first win of the day for Spring Hill.
Heading into the second match of the day against Lane (0-12, 0-8 SIAC) the Badgers stayed steady, winning 5-0. In doubles play, Wallace and Blasco Granell completed a clean 6-0 sweep to win their game, followed by a 6-0 sweep by Paul-Phillip Kern and Tom Gutermann to clinch the doubles point for SHC.
In singles, Wallace, Gutermann, and Kern all completed clean sweeps (6-0, 6-0). Bosman finished off the second match of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Spring Hill finished up the day with a dominating 7-0 win over LeMoyne-Owen. In doubles, the duos of Kern and Gutermann, Bosman and Pirie, and Sebastien Torres and Rafael Lima all completed clean 6-0 sweeps to lock up the doubles point for the Badgers.
It was the same in singles, as Bosman, Kern, Lima, Wallace, Arthur Praud, and Eberhard all finished with clean sweeps (6-0, 6-0).
