The Spring Hill College softball team run ruled Savannah State, 9-1, and Allen, 10-2, and kept its undefeated conference streak (8-0) alive during the SIAC Crossover at the Hoover Met on Wednesday.
Amanda Glowacki led Spring Hill (9-11, 8-0 SIAC) in the run-rule victory against Savannah State (8-13, 4-4 SIAC) with three RBI and two runs on two hits in three at-bats.
SHC went on an 8-0 run through the third inning to start the day. The run was highlighted by Glowacki, who started it with an RBI single and finished it with a two-run home run.
The Tigers got on the board in the fourth inning, but it was not enough to stop the Badgers, who capped the game off with a RBI single that same inning. The game was stopped after five innings after a run rule, with Spring Hill winning 9-1.
Taylor Pittman doubled and McKenzie King hit a triple during the rout of SSU. Emily Phillips earned the victory in the pitching circle with four strikeouts and only a single run given up on one hit through 5.0 innings.
Meadow Villar led SHC against Allen (3-19, 3-6 SIAC) with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored while going 2-for-2.
Villar’s two-run home run came in the opening frame and opened scoring. The Badgers stacked six more runs on to their lead in the top of the second inning before the Yellowjackets got on the board in the bottom of the second.
SHC was able to score two more runs across the fourth and fifth innings and only surrendered one more run before finishing the day with their second-straight run rule victory, 10-2. Three Badgers: Glowacki, Jena Pacheco and Rycca Hinton doubled during the game.
Emma Curry (3-2) claimed the victory while only giving up a single run on one hit in 2.0 innings. Alexandra Ballester came in relief, striking out three batters while not giving up any hits or runs.
