The Spring Hill College Women’s tennis team is set to open their season on Saturday, and will host both Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Round-Ups at the Copeland-Cox (Mobile) Tennis Center this year.
The Badgers start the season off with two non-conference games, facing Birmingham-Southern on Feb. 3 in Mobile, then crossing town to the University of Mobile’s courts to take on Louisiana State-Alexandria on Feb. 5.
SHC then opens conference play hosting the first SIAC Round-Up featuring match-ups with eight different opponents. Spring Hill takes on Savannah State and LeMoyne-Owen on Feb. 8, followed by another double header the following day, taking on Benedict and Fort Valley State. The Badgers then play Albany State and Clark Atlanta on Feb 10, before closing out the event with a double header against Lane and Edward Waters (Fla.) on Feb. 11.
Spring Hill then hosts crosstown rival, University of Mobile, on Feb. 16 before taking on SIAC opponent Tuskegee Feb. 17 at Medal of Honor Park (Cottage Hill Park). The Badgers then travel to face Auburn Montgomery (AUM) on Feb. 23.
Later that weekend, Spring Hill will return to Mobile for a two-game stint, with matches against Lee (Tenn.) on Feb. 25 and Bethel (Tenn.) on March 3, both taking place at Medal of Honor Park.
The Badgers will get back on the road to face SIAC foe Tuskegee on March 9, before hosting Doanes University (Neb.) on March 11 and Wallace State Community College on March 15. Spring Hill will jump back on the road to face Montevallo on March 19.
SHC then returns home to host the second SIAC Round-Up of the year, kicking the event off with a double header on March 21, competing against Edward Waters (Fla.) and Lane. The Badgers then face Clark Atlanta and Albany State on March 22, followed by Fort Valley State and Benedict on March 23. Spring Hill closes out the event with a double header against Lemoyne-Owen and Savannah State on March 24.
The Badgers close out the season with three non-conference match-ups, Christian Brother on April 7 at Medal of Honor Park, followed by a trip to the University of Mobile on April 9. SHC caps off the regular season on April 10 at Alabama State.
The 2024 Cricket SIAC Tennis Championships are slated for April 13-14 in Peachtree City, Ga.
