SHC senior Natalia Michas has an ongoing nail business on campus, showcasing a special manicure technique to differentiate herself from other artists.
Born and raised in Poland, Michas is half Russian and has decided to share her culture on the Hill by starting up her own nail business called Fergalicious Nails. Michas uses a Russian manicure technique, which is not commonly found at other salons. She decided to start her business to showcase the benefits of this special manicure.
“Russian manicures prevent the dry cracking of cuticles, or any hangnail and the technique extends the longevity of your manicure. Plus all of the polish I use is vitamin or fiber-based so it won’t do overall damage to your nails but make your nails stronger,” said Michas. Russian manicures are centered around having natural nails and loving them as much as artificial nails. This technique is used in Russia and most Eastern European countries. Michas does fake nails, and she makes sure to build extensions on the nails without glue. The process also includes a dry filling, cutting, and removing the cuticle with an electric drill for an entirely clean look. It also aids in removing all of the dead skin.
Clients like SHC senior Hallie Matherne and senior Becca Howard share why Michas is great at what she does. “Natalia is the best person to work with because she is really reasonable with time frames and everyone’s schedules,” said Matherne. “She is such a light and is so funny. She can make a joke out of anything and just really lift up your spirits when you’re down,” said Howard.
Michas uses products that are vegan and animal-friendly. Most of her products are from NeoNail Professional, which is a Polish brand that helps promote nail growth and concentrate healthy nails. Michas strives to create nails made with love to share with those she loves and create joy overall for her clients to feel beautiful.
