Not only has the Taylor Swift craze hit the entire world after the announcement of her Eras Tour, but it has also hit the hearts of Spring Hill students on campus.
Since the beginning of the tour, Taylor Swift has sold over $600 million in gross sales tickets in the United States, with a sold-out show at every venue. The opening night of the Eras tour showcased a three hour performance, including 44 songs performed, incorporating costumes and dances from each album she had previously released.
Student KC Sisung, admitted getting very emotional while attending the concert. Sisung said, “I cried so much that most of the concert was seen through blurry tears. It brought me back to listening to her songs with my mom as a small child and then to screaming her songs with my friends in the car throughout high school and college. It almost felt like Taylor grew with me through all the big moments in life, and I got to experience them all again with her that night.”
After a five year hiatus from performing, Swift announced that her new tour would give fans the opportunity to experience and hear their favorite songs from each of her “eras,” or previous albums. Ticketmaster then released presale codes for fans who were considered verified members, giving the opportunity at early access tickets and prices.
Junior Zuzu Cranley described her time in the waiting queue as, “Absolutely tortuous, I waited and watched the loading screen for almost three hours before purchasing my tickets, and the website just kept crashing from the amount of people trying to purchase tickets, it was nerve wracking.”
For other students, such as Emma Looney, the Eras Tour gave people the opportunity to fall in love with Taylor for the first time. “I was not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift at first, but after experiencing the Eras tour, I am a super fan. Watching her perform was like a completely out of body experience, I have never watched so many people come together out of love for one performer in my life,” said Looney.
She goes on to describe how she has grown friendships on campus through the concert and stated, “Taylor Swift has given me a community on Spring Hills campus, whether it be talking about her recent relationships with people in class, or getting to compliment a new person on campus wearing her merch, Taylor is always a conversation starter.”
With new tour dates being released in the upcoming months for shows in Louisiana, Florida, and Indiana, you will not want to miss out on the opportunity to experience the campus craze of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour.
