The Spring Hill College volleyball team fell 3-2 to Saint Leo before bouncing back and sweeping Young Harris, 3-0, during the first day of the Blazer Volleyball Fall Tournament at The Complex on Friday.
Spring Hill opened the Blazer Volleyball Fall Tournament with a match against Saint Leo. The Badgers fought through the fifth set, but fell 3-2 (8-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-25, 13-15) to the Lions. Airyonna Weaver led the SHC offense with 14 kills, while Mia Saavedra led with 33 assists. Haile Hallmon recorded two service aces during the match. Freshman middle blocker Hayley Hillman led the match with eight blocks and Lily Mascari led the Spring Hill defense with 10 digs.
The Badgers faced Young Harris in their second match of the day. Spring Hill swept the Mountain Lions in three sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-13) to finish the first day of the tournament. Weaver led the match with 15 kills, while Saavedra led with 30 assists. Kiana LaBorde and Hallmon both tallied three service aces. SHC also hit .200 while holding Young Harris to .066.
