The Spring Hill Men’s Tennis team hit the midway point of their season and see themselves finding plenty of success with just a few setbacks.
So far in the season, the badgers are 9-2 in the season with a perfect record of 5-0 in the SIAC conference. Jacob Stokes, a Junior transfer from Coastal Alabama Community College has been fitting just right in with the program and feels very welcomed as a fellow badger. With his great contribution to this badger success, he says “The season is going great and even better than I expected. We’ve had two losses in which could have very easily been wins but we have to move forward and I think the rest of the season is going to be an improvement.” The badgers have been perfect in the conference, and look to keep forward their excellence.
Having multiple new players introduced to the program, the returning players play a huge role in helping them fit right in. Chris Mines, a returning Junior is very familiarized with the program. He says “Well the returning players just make an effort as a unit to get to know the new players and get them immersed in the team on and off the court. It’s simple but I think we’ve done a good job of having our new players feel like an important part of the team.” Fitting the new players right into the program has been a strategy that has plenty of success. Facing only two losses in their great season they humbly move on and learn from it.
Learning from their losses has been their main game plan for the second half of their season. The players look to keep performing at a high level and working hard as a team until the end. Mines leaves his expectations for the rest of the season on a high note. He says “I expect for us to continue on the path we are right now and do well in the conference tournament and make it to regionals. I think we just need to continue working hard and stay focused on our goal ahead.” With a lot left to fight for in the season, the badgers do not seem to be slowing down any time soon. Stay updated with our Men’s Tennis Team as they plan on bringing home another successful season and a chance at conference play at the end of the regular season.
