As Spring Hill College students headed off campus for their spring break, their experiences reflected a blend of travel, connection, and responsibility. While some explored new places, others found meaning in staying close to home and making the most of their time in different ways.
For Karola Quintos, a freshman, spring break was an opportunity to return to meaningful places and reconnect with loved ones. She traveled to San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico, to visit her sister and close friends.
“I wanted to visit my sister and my friends who live there,” she shared.
One of her favorite moments was a simple yet special day at the beach.
“We went to the beach and ate sushi together. That was my favorite part.”
The experience allowed her to step away from the stress of her studies and return feeling refreshed.
“It really helped me relax and recharge for final exams.”
For Olivia Appel, a junior, spring break revolved around friendship and shared experiences. She spent her time at the beach with college friends, enjoying moments that felt both simple and meaningful.
“My favorite moment was being with them the whole time—going out, swimming, and just enjoying everything together,” she remarked.
For her, the break offered a chance to disconnect from her routine and enjoy a sense of freedom before returning to classes.
“It was really relaxing to have this spring break.”
For Annie Kratz, a senior, spring break was a little different. Instead of traveling far afield, she spent most of her time in Mobile, balancing responsibilities with moments of joy.
“I stayed here in Mobile. I went to the beach for a bit, but I also had to work,” she explained.
Even with a busy schedule, Annie found meaningful ways to enjoy her break. One of the highlights was celebrating a major milestone in a friend’s life.
“I was able to attend a friend’s wedding, which was truly beautiful.” Although their spring break did not center on travel, it was equally filled with connection and memorable experiences.
“I had a great time,” they added. Through a variety of experiences—whether traveling, staying local, or balancing work—Spring Hill students found their own ways to make the most of spring break, returning to campus re-energized for the home stretch of the semester.
