Spring Hill fell to West Florida 11–6 in a game that featured timely hitting from both sides but ultimately slipped away late.
West Florida struck early, jumping out to a 3–0 lead in the first inning against starting pitcher Donovan Monsees. Alex Roux provided an early spark for Spring Hill with a leadoff single, but the Badgers were unable to score in the opening frame.
Spring Hill began to find momentum in the second inning. Gavin Moran delivered a triple, followed by a single from Drew Juez to help generate offense and keep pressure on West Florida’s defense.
After West Florida extended its lead to 6–1 in the top of the third, Nate Helton entered in relief. The Badgers responded in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a solo home run from Roux to make it 5–2. Jaylen Jones added a single, John Webb followed with a double, and Moran came through again with a two-RBI single to cut into the deficit.
Helton continued on the mound into the fourth, but a West Florida home run pushed the score to 8–4.
Spring Hill showed resilience throughout the middle innings. In the fifth, Drew Juez and John Webb teamed up for a key double play to halt West Florida’s momentum. The Badgers chipped away again in the sixth after George Bode worked a walk and Angel Rivera laid down a bunt single. Robby Lopez drove in a run with a single, and Roux followed with another hit to bring the score to 9–6.
West Florida answered in the seventh and ninth innings to extend its lead. Despite solid defensive moments—including Lopez tagging out a runner at home to end the seventh—Spring Hill could not complete the comeback.
In the final inning, Webb singled but was thrown out attempting to stretch it into a double. Juez added another single, but the rally fell short as West Florida secured the 11–6 victory.
Roux led the way offensively for Spring Hill with multiple hits, including a home run, while Moran contributed key RBIs in the middle innings. The Badgers showed fight throughout but were unable to overcome West Florida’s early and late scoring.
Spring Hill will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup.
