Spring+Hill+Splits+SIAC+Doubleheader+Against+Lane

The Spring Hill College baseball team split Friday’s SIAC doubleheader against Lane at Fesmire Baseball Field.

Seth Williams led the Badgers (20-13, 15-5 SIAC) with two home runs, two RBI, three runs on three hits across seven at-bats. Parker Serio shined in the first game of the day and went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored.

Spring Hill opened the first game of the series with five unanswered runs through the top of the third inning. The early scoring run was highlighted by Serio’s two-run RBI single to left field in the opening frame.

Lane (12-18, 11-9 SIAC) got on the board and cut the SHC lead to 5-2 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning. Serio responded in the fifth with his own home run to left field, his fourth of the season. Toran Smithkept the run going with a ground-out RBI in the sixth inning that extended the Badger lead to 7-2.

The Dragons strung together four-straight runs through the seventh inning and made it a one-run game at 7-6. Williams capped off the series-opening 8-6 win with his sixth home run of the year.

Landen Harris (3-0) collected the win in his first start of the season. Harris scattered five runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks across 6.0 innings.

Williams got game two started with hits team-leading seventh home run of the season in the top of the first inning. Lane responded with a 4-0 scoring run through the third inning and took a 4-1 lead.

The Badgers responded with a pair of runs in the fifth inning and tied the game at 4-4. Lane escaped with the victory after scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Donovan Monsees (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season on the bump. He yielded a single run on one hit with three walks and struck out three batters across 2.0 innings.
