Badgers+Clean+Through+First+Day+of+SIAC+Round-Up

The Spring Hill College women’s tennis team went 3-for-3 with wins over Edward Waters (5-0), Lane (5-0) and Clark Atlanta (5-0) during the SIAC Round-Up II at the Copeland-Cox (Mobile) Tennis Center on Thursday.

The Badgers (10-11, 8-5 SIAC) opened the day with a 5-0 victory over Edward Waters. Claire Bosman and Brooke Powers started off doubles play with a 6-0 sweep, followed by a 6-0 sweep by Emma Koch and Danielle Day.

Emma Pager and Romina Kroemer finished up doubles play with a 6-1 win. Moving into singles play, SHC stayed hot. Powers once again was on the winning side, as she won her singles set with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep.

Kroemer followed up her win with one of her own, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Pager brought home a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep of her own and Paola Marin Sabao finished up the match for Spring Hill with a clean sweep of 6-0, 6-0.

Moving into the second game of the day, it was much of the same for SHC against Lane (3-14, 2-10 SIAC). The Badger duo of Koch and Day brought home a 6-0 win to start off doubles play on the No. 3 court.

Bosman and Powers won their game 6-1 to secure the doubles point for Spring Hill. Moving into singles, Powers, Pager, and Wilson all brought home clean 6-0, 6-0 sweeps to win their singles set, followed by a 6-0, 6-1 win by Bosman to finish the second game of the day for SHC.

SHC faced a tougher battle against Clark Atlanta (12-3, 11-1 SIAC), but still was able to come away victorious, 4-2. In doubles play, Bosman and Powers won the first set 6-2, but the Badgers would drop the second game. Koch and Day won their set 6-4 to secure the doubles point.

In singles play, Bosman came away with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Powers (4-6, 6-2, 10-4) came away with a hard-fought victory. Kroemer (6-2, 3-6, 10-8) finished up the match for SHC with a tough win in the No. 4 spot.
