With a 33% increase in freshman running for Student Government Association, and a total of eight campaigns for four spots, the 2023-2024 Freshman Senators have been announced.

Newly sworn-in freshman senators Lauryn Spratlen, Brenna Becker, Carson Vickery, and the Freshman Class President Cira Sofia Chiocco bring “a lot of enthusiasm to the table, and have dove right in and really gotten their feet wet to figure out their roles and responsibilities for the upcoming year”, said Student Government President Daniel Hadley.

After not participating in student government in high school, Carson Vickery, decided to pursue it at Spring Hill because of his “fascination and yearning to help and serve people.” He continued “Through this role that I’ve been generously given by the student body, I will be allowed to do that. I also am able to learn better leadership skills and how to communicate better with people, in a way that makes the student body feel seen and heard.”

Similarly, Cira Sofia Chiocco stated, “I fell in love with the community, I fell in love with the campus, and the people that created the community, and the school itself. I was always drawn to leadership and being a part of something bigger than myself, and I found Spring Hill to be the perfect place to do that, help the community, and make a mark and create a pathway for future generations”.

Cira Sofia Chiocco explained what she was most excited for as her new role as Freshman Class President, “I’m excited about a lot of things, more than anything, I’m excited to learn a lot about my community, both the faculty staff and students, to find out what people need and what they want, and to be able to pave that path to get there”.

Carson Vickery also explained his personal goals throughout the next semesters in Student Government, “I want to help the student body become more involved and engaged in campus activities and growth, and I think we have a good group of people this year, who also are dedicated to get those initiatives started, so that the student body can be proud of the college they go to.”
