Spring Hill College honored the school’s notable alumni athletes and coaches as they were inducted into the 2022 SHC Hall of Fame.

The hall of fame honors intercollegiate athletes and coaches who have made outstanding contributions to the college, or who have made significant achievements in their athletic or sports careers. This year’s ceremony inducted four athletes, three past athletic teams, and recently retired baseball coach, Frank Sims.

“I am very humbled and very proud to have been selected into the Spring Hill College Hall of Fame. Spring Hill has such a great history of great athletes and coaches, it is truly an honor to be a part of those outstanding men and women,” Sims said.

Sims holds the record for most career victories at Spring Hill and a total of 1,010 wins in his career.

Inductee Donmeka Martin, class of 1998 basketball player said, “ It’s a blessing. Still feels surreal. I believe the timing of my induction was much needed for many reasons. I needed validation and encouragement as well as my family. My boys play and as we enter my oldest son’s senior year, he needs to see that playing at the next level can be rewarding on so many levels.”

According to Spring Hill College records, she became one of the most decorated athletes in SHC history. She holds eight SHC career records and four single-season records and numerous program records.

The hall of fame was initially established in 1972, however up until this year, there hadn’t been a ceremony since 2009, where four alumni were inducted.

“I really wanted to get the hall of fame going again,” said SHC athletic director Joe Niland. “I knew there were a number of high-level athletes who qualified but weren’t in our hall of fame. We want to honor athletes that brought contributions to the school and demonstrate positive energy to the school.”
