Delta Gamma: Stomp the Hill 2017

Delta+Gamma%3A+Stomp+the+Hill+2017

On Thursday, November 16 Delta Gamma hosted their annual fall philanthropy event, Stomp the Hill. The event is an Eta Eta fundraiser that was started by Spring Hill Alumni, Keisha Ford, ten years ago.

Stomp the Hill is a step show that raises money and awareness for Service for Sight. This year’s theme for the event was Disney Channel Original Movies, which was based on the original theme of the first Stomp the Hill ten years ago. The theme is represented on the shirts, flyers, letters, and even the team’s “uniforms.” The theme also affects what songs are assigned to each team. The teams consisted of other greek organizations on Spring Hill College’s campus. Students from all classes gathered in the cafeteria on campus to watch choreographed routines from members of each organization.

Service for Sight is the main philanthropy for Delta Gamma and was a program started by four Delta Gammas for the visually impaired and other organizations that promote sight preservation. According to the Delta Gamma Official Page, Service for Sight has been a philanthropy associated with Delta Gamma since 1936 when a blind member petitioned to adopt “Aid to the Blind” as the official philanthropy. Service for sight also has two additional programs known as the Golden Anchor Program which helps the elderly, as well as Joining Force helping those that serve the military. Philanthropy Chair, Mady Freese said, “This event is really all about our philanthropy and I hope everyone left the event knowing a little bit more about it then when they came in.”

Theta Kappa Epsilon took home the win with first place, Delta Chi took second place, and Tri Delta followed up with third place for the event. Members of Delta Gamma want to thank everyone that came out to the event and for supporting their philanthropy.
