The Spring Hill College men’s basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell 96-90 to Clark Atlanta University at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. The Badgers controlled the tempo in the first half, building a 13-point lead thanks to strong ball movement and energy on both ends of the court. Still, the Panthers rallied in the second half to secure the victory in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) matchup.
Spring Hill came out aggressively, opening a solid lead with early baskets from senior Collin Coates and freshman Nikoloz Abuladze. Sophomore Rocco Lamuno and junior Alvin Cole helped extend the advantage, keeping the Badgers comfortably ahead at halftime.
Clark Atlanta responded after the break, gradually chipping away at the lead with a more intense offensive attack. The Panthers took control in the closing minutes, securing the 96-90 win despite Spring Hill’s efforts to stay within reach. The lead changed hands several times, creating a tense and competitive finish.
Lamuno shined bright for the Badgers with 37 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and one steal, delivering one of his best performances of the season and demonstrating leadership. Playing all 40 minutes, he stepped into the point guard role out of necessity and performed effectively in a challenging game.
Cole contributed 18 points and four rebounds, providing consistent scoring support. Brian Harris added 13 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Ruben Bos chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Spring Hill finished with a 45.8% field goal percentage, 38.5% from three-point range, and 89.7% from the free-throw line.
Fans in attendance celebrated the team’s determination and hard work. Supporter Karola Quintos highlighted Lamuno’s performance, saying he “stepped up for the team despite the challenging season and injuries, showing resilience and leadership.” Ava Bell added that the game showcased the Badgers’ willpower and fighting spirit.
With several conference matchups still remaining, Spring Hill will have more opportunities to build on this performance, regroup, and continue fighting for wins as the season continues.
