The Spring Hill College baseball team finished its SIAC series sweep against Clark Atlanta with an 11-9 win at Sims-Galle Field on Sunday.
Seth Williams, Jackson Bell, Eli Benoitand Ethan Valdez led the Badgers (19-11, 14-4 SIAC) with two RBI apiece. Williams and Benoit both recorded doubles in the series-sweeping victory.
Unlike the first two games of the series, Spring Hill opened scoring with a two-run RBI single from Valdez in the bottom of the second inning. Williams followed that up with a two-run RBI of his own and Bell knocked an RBI single to bring the Badger lead to 5-0.
Clark Atlanta (6-22, 2-15 SIAC) responded with three runs in the top of the third inning. Jack Taylor’s heads-up baserunning brought him across home plate in the bottom half of the inning when he scored on a wild pitch.
After another run was scored by the Panthers in the fourth inning, SHC strung together a 5-0 run through the seventh inning. Clark Atlanta started a late comeback and brought the game within two runs (11-9) in the ninth before Cooper Symmons came in relief and struck out the final batter, earning him his first save of the season.
Kaleb Bush (1-1) took the win on the mound for the Badgers after scattering four runs on seven hits, two walks and striking out six batters over 6.0 innings.
