The Spring Hill College beach volleyball team fell to Tampa (5-0) and Palm Beach Atlantic (3-2) before sweeping Eckerd (5-0) during the PBA Invitational at the Rinker Athletic Campus on Friday.

Spring Hill (11-10) was swept by (RV) Tampa (10-9) in its first match at the PBA Invitational. Mikayla Boyer and Mia Saavedra battled to a close loss (18-21, 23-25) on the No. 1 court. Elizabeth Hardouin and Lily Mascari also fought hard, taking their match to three sets (16-21, 21-19, 3-21) in the No. 4 flight.

The Sandy Badgers fell just short (3-2) against tournament host Palm Beach Atlantic (9-12). Boyer and Saavedra (21-17, 21-15) took the win in the No. 1 spot. Linnea Beger and Ally Lane earned their win after three sets (16-21, 22-20, 16-14) on the No. 2 court. The remaining three flights were taken by the Sailfish.

SHC finished up the first day of the event with a 5-0 sweep of Eckerd (3-12). All five flights were decided in two sets, with the best performance of the match coming from Boyer and Saavedra, who won 21-13, 21-18.
