The Spring Hill College softball team swept Saturday’s doubleheader with Tuskegee at the TU Softball Field.
Macy Holt, who went 4-for-7 with three runs and two RBI on the day, opened scoring in the opening frame of the first game. Tuskegee (8-15, 0-2 SIAC) responded with a run in the second inning and tied the game at 1-1.
Spring Hill (3-11, 2-0 SIAC) went on a 5-0 run over the fourth and fifth to go up 6-1. The Tigers brought in two more runs in the fifth inning.
The Badgers scored their final run of the game on a walk in the sixth inning and opened SIAC play with a 7-3 win. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for SHC.
Leighanna Turk (1-7) tossed a complete game and notched her first win of the season in the series opener. The sophomore struck out four batters, scattered four hits and three runs (one earned) across 7.0 innings.
Game two was all Spring Hill, who scored five unanswered runs through the seventh inning. Tuskegee showed life late, but only mustered a run as the Badgers swept the doubleheader 5-1 and clinched the series.
Emma Curry (1-2), sat down four batters and only gave up two hits and a single run in while pitching a complete game.
