Seven games into the season the Spring Hill College Women’s Soccer team has already blown past their win count from last season, winning four games already this year, eclipsing their single win season last year.
After losing the first two games of the season, the Women’s Soccer team continued on a four game winning streak. Junior Ashlyn Johnson stated, “The biggest difference from this season and last season is the culture of our team. Many of our girls are truly invested in our program, we are all hard-working, reliable, and disciplined athletes working towards getting into the Gulf South Conference tournament.”
A major reason for the turnaround this season has been Redshirt Junior Poppy Binding. Transferring here in 2023 from Jones College, Binding has scored four goals for the Badgers and presents herself as a threat anytime she touches the ball. “She is a dangerous player on the field and never fails to be a good offensive presence,” said Ashlyn Johnson. Another player she highlighted as a staple in their success was Hannah Pitts, also known as “Flea”. “Flea is an extremely talented and humble athlete that leads by example,” Johnson added.
This season is the year of change for the Women’s Soccer team.
Through hard work and dedication they plan to maximize their potential for the remainder of the season. Coming off a tough loss September 17th, the Badgers plan to get back track September 22nd, playing West Florida at home.
